Big Dance 2014 in Yorkshire
Bodies on the Beach: New Community Commission
We were thrilled to work with the Foundation for Community Dance on a new commission for Big Dance 2014. The piece, Bodies on the Beach, took place on Saturday 12 of July in Bridlington.
Bodies on the Beach was directed/choreographed by Susanne Thomas (of Seven Sisters Group) who worked with 3 other artists and a cast of 80 dancers to create this new work.
In March, Yorkshire Dance invited the public to vote online for two of six shortlisted dance works to be commissioned.
With 1600 votes cast from around the world, the two artists selected to make and perform their new pieces are…
Robbie Synge & Hagit Yakira
The vote was the first major stage of respond_, a Yorkshire Dance project in partnership with Liz Lerman, Breakfast Creatives and the University of Leeds, chosen by Nesta, Arts Council England and Arts and Humanities Research Council as one of 24 partnerships to receive funding from the £7 million Digital R&D Fund for the Arts.
