Anyone aged 12 and over is welcome to attend our evening classes at any point during the term, as these work on a drop-in basis. You can pay-as-you-go per session or block book a few weeks to a term if you so wish. These cost £5.50 full price or £4.50 concessionary rate per session. Courses are interlinked, progressional sessions taking place at a regular time once a week for the duration of our 13-week term. These cost £71.50 full price or £58.50 concessionary rate. However, please note you may only book onto a course up to and including the third week of any given term. Our Saturday programme is specifically designed for children aged between 2-12. Children’s drop-in classes cost £3.00 (for our Parents and Tots class, this fee includes the parent/carer and child) and all children’s courses cost £39. Please click here to see our Classes and Courses page for more details. Tickets are available to purchase in advance throughout the term on a first come first served basis. You can pay for classes and courses either other the phone with a credit/debit card or pay by cash/card on arrival at Yorkshire Dance, subject to availability. Some classes are more popular than others, so please do give our Front of House team a call on 0113 243 8765 to check availability. Online booking will be available from April 2010. These are one-off events that we hold each term; the programme changes termly and prices vary. Please refer to our workshops brochure for more information. Our concessionary rates include: registered unwaged/in full time education/under 16/in receipt of benefit or state benefit. A 10% reduction for Leeds Card, Breeze Card and Primary Care Trust Card holders is available for our drop-in classes only. Any concessions must be stated at the time of booking and proof of concession must be shown on collection of any reduced rate ticket, otherwise you will be charged full price. If you are more than 15 minutes late for a class, we’re sorry, it is our policy that we cannot enable you to take part. This is for health and safety reasons and also to prevent disruption to other class participants. Once booked, drop-in classes are non refundable, non transferable at the point of sale. Courses may be transferable within the first 3 weeks of term, subject to availability. You may request a 100% refund on a course or workshop 24 hours prior to the course commencing. Refunds of 50% can be requested on courses up to 5 weeks into the term. Workshop fees are not refundable. Yorkshire Dance is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all centre users, and in order to preserve this it is our policy not to allow any non-participants in any of our sessions. Parents, children and friends of participants are very welcome to stay in the foyer area. Our classes and courses are categorised by ability level – please see the Classes, Courses & Workshops section for more information. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movement in any way. Please see our class descriptions for any specific footwear requirements for classes such as Ballroom. Yorkshire Dance does not sell dancewear or dance shoes. If you’re in reach of Leeds, World of Dance, based in the Victoria Quarter shopping complex can cater to your dancewear needs. There are a number of online suppliers – sorry, Yorkshire Dance is unable to make any recommendations. Dance is a naturally strenuous exercise and you should take responsibility for ensuring that you are fit to take part. If you have any health concerns or are pregnant please seek advice from your GP before attending. If you have a recurring injury or long-standing health problem, please ensure you inform the teacher at the beginning of the session and only participate to the extent of your personal limits. Low-impact sessions such as Yoga and Pilates may be beneficial during a recovery from injury or illness. All Yorkshire Dance staff are fully First Aid trained. Yes we do! Yorkshire Dance is pleased to accept work experience students who can offer a minimum of 6 weeks (full-time). If you are able to do this, please send a covering letter and CV either to our postal address or via email to admin@yorkshiredance.com. Tell us why you want to do work experience with us, what you hope to get out of it, and how it relates to your future plans. We will then contact you to arrange for an interview. Volunteers play an important role at Yorkshire Dance. We aim to offer a position that provides the volunteer with a challenge, opportunities to develop skills, and plenty of fun, in return for a commitment in time. Send us your CV and a covering letter, explaining why you’d like to volunteer and when you are available by email to admin@yorkshiredance.com or by mail to our postal address. Please note, we may not be able to offer a volunteer position to all applicants. To teach GCSE or A level Dance in secondary schools or sixth forms you will need a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education); to find Higher Education institutes that offer this, try ‘googling’ PGCE and dance. Do think carefully before sending us things, though – you know what’s appropriate for inclusion and what’s not and we’d hate to offend by not including something you send us because it’s not really suitable… Please send relevant information – and remember, brevity is everything – to admin@yorkshiredance.com with the subject line “Professional e-Bulletin information.” Please note that inclusion in the bulletin does not constitute endorsement by Yorkshire Dance. Talk to your local authority in the first instance, as they may have an Arts Development Officer or Dance Development Officer who could advise you.
