Yorkshire Dance Youth

Yorkshire Dance Youth has been running since 2011 with young people from Seacroft and Rochmond Hill areas of Leeds.  In August 2013, we were absolutely delighted to receive £9,000 of new funding for our two Youth Dance companies from Jimbo’s fund. The funding allowed us to continue working with both groups from these areas of Leeds, for another year. In August 2014 we were over the moon to receive further funding from the Igen Trust to continue and develop our work in these areas of Leeds even further.

Our two companies of young dancers (aged 12-14 and 15-18) have been enjoying weekly sessions with a range of artists and have been involved in numerous prestigious performances on the West Yorkshire Playhouse Stage, as part of the Olympic Torch relay in Temple Newsam and as part of U.Dance National Youth Dance Festival 2013.

All this hard work has paid off and two of the members are now going on to further education at Leeds Beckett University having also been selected to join the Centre for Advanced Training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2013.
