Mind the Step 1 - Lizzie Coombes

Mind The Step (18+)

This dance course is for independent adults with a range of learning and physical disabilities. The hour long weekly class provides an opportunity to hone creative and performance skills in a clearly directed and supportive way and where ever possible will lead to a product. The class provides a differentiated and supportive environment allowing participants to be challenged and push their personal boundaries whilst being aware of individuals’ needs.

In June 2014 the Mind The Step participants worked with film artist Chloe Newbigging and dance artists Zoe Parker and Louise McDowall to create a short dance film in and around the Yorkshire Dance building exploring their favourite piece of music. Here you can see the film that they created.

Leaps and Bounds - Lizzie Coombes

Leaps and Bounds

Yorkshire Dance is delivering the project ‘Leaps and Bounds’ consisting of regular weekly creative dance classes in Rothwell and in Leeds City Centre (at Yorkshire Dance), for adults with learning disabilities between 2010-2012. Participants are challenged to extend their experience of mind-body connection through raising awareness of the body’s expressive, creative and dynamic abilities, as well as raising physical confidence and skill. This project is funded by Adult Social Care.

Fresh is our annual showcase of youth dance from across Yorkshire. This year it is taking place at CAST in Doncaster on Saturday 26 March 2016.
