Regional Dance Development Network
The Regional Dance Development Network is a group of individuals and organisations which represent the dance infrastructure of Yorkshire, meeting in person four times a year.
This is a page for members of the RDDN, where you can find details of events and opportunities which we think you’d specifically like to know about! It will be updated regularly, so keep checking back, and we’ll e-mail you once a month from February 2015 to remind you, rather than forwarding e-mails to you in an ad hoc way…
Getting Out of the Box
How to Survive as an artist…
Saturday 15 October 2016
Event suitable for dancers, movers, shakers, theatre practitioners, live artists, circus performers and anyone else who fancies it!
Join Karla Shacklock for an afternoon of tea and nice biscuits, which will include talking, reflecting, listening, and above all thinking about how performance artists can get out of their boxes. This is an opportunity for artists, venues, producers, programmers and funders to come together, to have authentic conversations (no holds barred except moaning!), to play with thinking in new ways and to consider how we can work together in order to survive and thrive.
Karla will share her OOTB experience, and you will hear a panel of inspiring dance/theatre legends talk about theirs. This is an opportunity to enjoy some safe time and space to think about your own journey. Topics might include: touring, funding, health and wellbeing, networking, parenthood, and generally how to keep going when it starts to feel tough. Hopefully you’ll leave feeling a bit safer, more empowered and like you are part of a wide and special world.
This is one of five free and accessible OOTB events taking place across the UK. Event locations: Pavilion Dance South West, Yorkshire Dance, Dance4, Trinity Centre Bristol, South East Dance.
