Everyone aged 55+ is welcome to this dance and social event featuring the fabulous Citizens’ Orchestra.

They’ll be playing a range of live music, from swing to rock and roll.

Meanwood Community Centre is the perfect place to dance the day away.

And if you want to take a break from the dancing now and then, and catch up with your friends, there’ll be light refreshments and games throughout the afternoon.

The Citizens’ Orchestra was originally formed for I Love West Leeds Festival 2009. The aim was to offer older musicians – of all abilities – an opportunity to be creative and enjoy playing music together.

If transport is a problem, we can help organise and pay for you to get here. To talk about that or to discuss your access needs, call Shabina Aslam on 0113 243 9867 or e-mail

This Afternoon of Music & Dancing is one of many events organised by six Leeds-based cultural organisations as part of Young at Arts.

Young at Arts is a two-year project, part of Time to Shine, a six-year programme delivered by Leeds Older People’s Forum and funded through Big Lottery Fund Ageing Better.

Time To Shine takes a city-wide approach to addressing the social isolation of older people. The LEAF partnership’s Young at Arts will create social opportunities through culture and the arts.
