Four Weeks in Rothwell
The LEAF Partnership – Leeds Grand Theatre & City Varieties, Northern Ballet, Opera North, Phoenix Dance Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse & Yorkshire Dance – invites you to
for ages 55+
West Yorkshire Playhouse
Fridays, from 26 February – 18 March
10.30am – 12 noon
Rothwell Baptist Church Hall
Wood Lane, Leeds, LS26 0PG
No experience needed – and we particularly welcome people who’ve never done anything like this before. Come to as many or as few sessions as you like. They’re all FREE, and refreshments are provided.
Using the classic story of Kes (Barry Hines’ much loved novel about a boy and his kestrel) as inspiration for these workshops, we will explore aspects of the story and its characters, using drama techniques and playing with tongue twisters and word games.
Sessions will be thoughtful, accessible and fun! Everybody welcome, whatever your experience.
The six arts organisations in the LEAF partnership have a wealth of experience of working with older adults, and this Four Week programme brings one of them right to your neighbourhood. Join in every Friday for four weeks, and get creative!
If transport is a problem, we can help organise and pay for you to get here. To talk about that or to discuss your access needs, let us know… call Shabina Aslam on 0113 243 9867
or e-mail ShabinaAslam@yorkshiredance.com
A range of other programmes have been taking place around Leeds since September 2015.
Young at Arts is a two-year project, part of Time to Shine, a six-year programme delivered by Leeds Older People’s Forum and funded through Big Lottery Fund Ageing Better.
Time To Shine takes a city-wide approach to addressing the social isolation of older people. The LEAF partnership’s Young at Arts will create social opportunities through culture and the arts.
