Ten Weeks in Rothwell
The LEAF Partnership – Leeds Grand Theatre & City Varieties, Northern Ballet, Opera North, Phoenix Dance Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse & Yorkshire Dance – invites you to
for ages 55+
West Yorkshire Playhouse
& City Varieties Music Hall
Fridays, from 16 October – 18 December
10.30am – 12 noon
Rothwell Parish Centre
except 30 Oct, 6 & 13 Nov

The six arts organisations in the LEAF partnership have a wealth of experience of working with older adults, and this Ten Week programme brings them right to your neighbourhood. Join three of them every Friday, and get creative! Try out some artistic activity, guided by professional artists.
No experience needed – and we particularly welcome people who’ve never done anything like this before. Come to as many or as few sessions as you like. They’re all FREE, and refreshments are provided.
16, 23 & 30 Oct
West Yorkshire Playhouse
What are the incredible stories of your community? Explore and celebrate the character of Rothwell through memories, movement, music and words.
6, 13 & 20 Nov
Gentle movement-play to stimulate mind and body. You don’t have to be a dancer – this is for any body. Laughs guaranteed.
27 Nov, 4 & 11 Dec
City Varieties Music Hall
Remembering the BBC’s Good Old Days, explore objects, photos and film before sharing stories in a relaxed, friendly environment.
Celebrate the end of Ten Weeks in Rothwell, and look forward to what’s next… Fun, food, festivities!

Two other Ten Week programmes will be taking place before Christmas 2015 – one in Morley with sessions led by Yorkshire Dance, Opera North and Phoenix Dance Theatre, and one in Gipton with Northern Ballet, West Yorkshire Playhouse and Phoenix Dance Theatre.
At the end of each Ten Week programme, you and the rest of the participants will be able to decide what you’d like to do next… more dance, more singing, more acting, or something completely different! How about making a radio play??
Young at Arts is a two-year project, part of Time to Shine, a six-year programme delivered by Leeds Older People’s Forum and funded through Big Lottery Fund Ageing Better.
Time To Shine takes a city-wide approach to addressing the social isolation of older people. The LEAF partnership’s Young at Arts will create social opportunities through culture and the arts.
