Michael Johnson

Freelance dance artist and dance writer

Michael graduated from the Rambert School of Ballet with a first class BA Hons.  With a strong classical ballet background, he is proficient in most contemporary styles, including Cunningham, Graham, Forsythe, Release based and improvisational techniques.

Michael takes pleasure in working in diverse forms and styles of dance and is open to working with both established and new choreographers/visual artists. Michael is currently working as a freelance dancer within the Yorkshire/Derbyshire region, in collaborations with new emerging groups; Poor Mans Dance (Leeds)  and also Adaire to Dance (Derby). He also participates in community based educational workshops with Ascendance Rep (Bradford) working with people of all ages and abilities.

He is a keen dance writer and has started to write contemplative and critical discussions via his blog. He is available to dance in upcoming projects and wishes to extend his teaching and choreographic experiences.
