Amplified Success

by admin on July 22, 2015

We are delighted to say that Amplified has supported Grace Surman in successfully gaining funding from Arts Council England to further develop and tour ‘THINGS STACK UP’.

The work was originally supported by Yorkshire Dance’s artist development programme Sketch and Amplified is excited to offer continued support allowing the work to be presented to audiences across The North.

Grace will present THINGS STACK UP in two community contexts and at two arts venues across the North from September – December 2015. This project also includes a Research and Development period  for a second piece of work called ‘Performance with Hope’. This is a dance piece made for film with Grace working closely with Karl Jay-Lewin and her daughter Hope.

Grace had a fabulous time working creatively with dramaturg Peggy Olislaegers and lighting designer Ellen Knops at CREA University in Amsterdam. Having worked intensively in the studio alone while creating the work, Grace was able to work with Peggy for two days focusing on the performance elements. The next step for Grace is to work with Ellen Knops and devise a lighting plan in September here at Yorkshire Dance before the work is presented across the North from late September.
