Questioning the Contemporary in 21st Century British Dance Practices
18 July 2014
Leeds Metropolitan University and Yorkshire Dance, in association with the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and Phoenix Dance Theatre, are embarking upon an ambitious two-week programme of dance research culminating in a one-day symposium on Friday 18th July 2014. We are looking for a film-maker interested in arts and creative practice to record a number of the activities taking place during this important event and to produce a short documentary suitable for use on social-media and company websites to be delivered by August 30th, 2014.
This opportunity would suit a recent graduate hoping to gain further experience of working within an artistic setting and developing their abilities to capture multiple activities within the context of one festival type event.
The Northern Film School at Leeds Metropolitan University can provide equipment and mentoring to support this role (subject to proof of competency to handle equipment). It is expected that you will attend a minimum of 6 days, to include the entire day on Friday 18 July and record dance workshops, social interaction, presentations and capture vox-pops throughout the event.
An interest in contemporary dance or experience of documenting performance would be advantageous.
About the Symposium
This partnership aims to bring together scholars, practitioners and postgraduate students from within the dance sector to embrace and encourage debates across, between and within international and industry informed dance research and practical enquiry. It will therefore involve a range of activities from dance practice to round table discussions and presentations.
