Introducing Paul Burns…
new interim artistic leadership at Yorkshire Dance
After 7 years at the helm, here’s a personal word from Wieke Eringa who is handing over artistic leadership to Paul Burns for 6 months whilst going on adoption leave.
I am excited to write this post whilst in my final throws of handing over the baton to my colleague Andrea Smart (interim CEO) and to Paul Burns (interim Artistic Director) I can’t think of a stronger pair of hands to steer the organisation whilst I am away from April 24th.
Paul Burns has been the highly respected Director of Programming and Production at Birmingham’s DanceXChange for seven years where he has built up an impressive national reputation for his professional expertise and leadership. He brings particular expertise in touring and production to the organisation which is exciting during a time where we are developing Amplified. Key focus points for Paul will be the development of the artistic programme in particular Juncture 2016 as well as the myriad of other development opportunities for the Youth and Community and Artistic teams. The response from the artistic community to his position at Yorkshire Dance has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic and I wish Paul a great time with our beloved team.
On a more personal note: we adopted a little girl in December and from late April I will be taking over from my partner with whom I am sharing the first year of full-time care. We are very delighted with her: she is healthy and happy and settling in well and is bringing much joy and love to our lives. Of course I will be around attending events but ‘officially’ it is bye bye soon and see you in November!
