Raised is an integrated performance group that meets weekly at Yorkshire Dance. Members work collaboratively to create and perform original and inspiring dance pieces, in a respectful and creative environment.
A new work entitled Me, You and Us is currently in development, exploring issues of identity, inclusion and equality, and will be performed at a number of events in the North of England during summer and autumn 2016. Created collaboratively by the group and dance artists Zoe Parker and Rachel Fullegar, with input from artistic mentors Gary Clarke, Rachel Liggitt and David Toole.
During 2016 Raised are raising their game both within and outside of the studio – pushing creative and performance abilities, delivering more performances including outside of Leeds, making connections with other organisations working nationally in inclusive dance and seeking funding to ensure the group’s future.
Would you like to watch, join, or learn from Raised?
Formally established in 2015, Raised is for anyone aged 18+, with dance experience, that wishes to work in an inclusive performance setting. The group is delighted to welcome those that have joined already this year, but still have space for new members. So if you have a passion for sharing your choreographic and performance talents, and would like the opportunity to develop additional skills, please get in touch. It may be possible for you to come along to a taster session to meet the group and learn more.
You can also see what Raised are doing by attending one of their upcoming performances:
Saturday 18 June, 12pm-4pm, West Yorkshire Playhouse
Wednesday 22 June, 7.30pm, Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre
The group also recently delivered a taster workshop at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, and is available to deliver integrated dance activity either within inclusive settings or for those interested in learning more about inclusive practice.
