Fresh is an annual showcase of high quality youth dance from across Yorkshire, and is part of U. Dance, a national celebration of performance by young people.

In previous years Fresh has been held at the West Yorkshire Playhouse. This year, however, it will be moving out into the region and will be held at CAST in Doncaster on 26 March.

Fresh is considered to be a highlight of the regional youth dance calendar and will see over 200 young people come together to participate in a day of high quality dance activity.

Not only will the young people of Yorkshire be given the chance to perform to an audience of 620 people, but the day itself is packed full of workshops aimed at broadening  dance experiences and developing their skills.

The young people will get a chance to work with artists such as Tim Casson and Ess Green, in workshops covering a range of styles including urban, lindy hop and contemporary.

One of the workshops includes working with choreographer, Jon Beney, who will be creating an exciting new piece of choreography for the show’s finale, that the young people have the challenge of learning and performing in one day!

Companies such as DAZL, Phoenix Academy and students from the NSCD CAT scheme will perform, as well as some companies from the South Yorkshire area, including Doncaster’s own youth company and Street Beat Elite.

Not only is this a great opportunity for the young people taking part, but it is also a chance for other young people in the region to be inspired to take part in dance in the future.
