Yorkshire Dance announces temporary Artistic Director

Paul BurnsYorkshire Dance is delighted to announce that, in April 2015, Paul Burns, until recently Director of Programming & Production at DanceXchange / International Dance Festival, Birmingham, will be joining the organisation as temporary Artistic Director.

His appointment will cover the six-month adoption leave of Artistic Director and Chief Executive Officer Wieke Eringa.

Wieke says of the appointment, “This is a really exciting moment for Yorkshire Dance. It’s a rare opportunity to bring into the organisation a wealth of fresh ideas, experiences and contacts, all of which are sure to benefit our work enormously, both in the short-term and the long-term. And speaking personally, it’s wonderful to hand over for six months to someone with such flair, expertise and vision. I wish Paul every success and happiness during his time at Yorkshire Dance.”

Paul Burns adds, “I’m very excited at the prospect of working with Yorkshire Dance. Like most people in the industry I am very aware of the great reputation Yorkshire Dance has as an artist focused organisation and hope I can build on this over the coming months. There are a host of great projects in the pipeline and I look forward to being part of them, and part of the dynamic arts scene in Leeds and Yorkshire.”

Wieke Eringa’s CEO responsibilities will be assumed for the six months by Administrative Director Andrea Smart.
