Yorkshire Dance Goes Green

by aprilskipp on February 1, 2016

Yorkshire Dance is proud to announce that we are now working with Investors in the Environment, an awarding body designed to help organisations improve their energy efficiency and reduce their environmental impact. We are hoping to achieve our Bronze Award this spring!

Here are some examples of what we are doing so far:

  • We have switched to using 100% recycled paper for all A4 printing in the office.
  • We have moved to a more eco-efficient waste management company allowing us to improve our recycling facilities and reduce our waste to landfill.
  • We are currently undergoing a phased movement into LED lighting.
  • We have launched a ‘Switch Off’ campaign encouraging all building users to turn off lights and electrical equipment when not in use.

We launched our improved Green initiative this month with an eco workshop where all staff members wore green clothing! This helped to raise awareness and encourage ideas and commitment from all employees. We explored how we can not only improve our eco awareness on a day to day basis in the building, but also how we can consider our impact on the environment in our Artistic and Youth and Community work.

This was followed by a ‘Green Feast’ where all staff brought in green themed or coloured food to celebrate our commitment to the environment!

We are looking forward to sharing more developments with you moving forward.
