Yorkshire Dance introduces Becky

by aprilskipp on September 11, 2015

Yorkshire Dance is thrilled to welcome Becky Ward to the team as the new paid Youth and Community Dance Intern on Tuesday 8 September.

Becky joined the team earlier this week and has already begun working on projects with Hannah Robertshaw, Youth and Community Dance Director and Sarah Lyon, Youth and Community Dance Co-ordinator.

Becky has recently graduated from Leeds Beckett University. During her time at uni, she was keen to gain as much experience as possible in the community dance sector. Not only has she gained experience from working with Magpie Dance and shadowing several independent practitioners, but Becky has been a regular volunteer for Yorkshire Dance in her spare time.

Yorkshire Dance is lucky to have Becky join the team full time. She has been a delight to work with on projects such as Fresh, Leaps and Bounds and the Dance Leeds Made.

“The internship is a great chance for me to use my practical experience alongside developing my project management skills to learn more about the community dance sector. Being able to work at Yorkshire Dance is a great opportunity and I can’t wait to learn about and experience everything that the organisation has the offer.”

Fun fact about Becky is that she has a slight addiction to Cath Kidston.
“I love Cath Kidston bags, well pretty much anything from the shop, and can be easily spotted in crowd sporting a floral bag of some kind!”

Yorkshire Dance’s paid internships are supported by the Creative Employment Programme, a £15m fund to support the creation of traineeships, formal apprenticeship and paid internship opportunities in England for young unemployed people aged 16-24 wishing to pursue a career in the arts and cultural sector.
