Yorkshire Dance is delighted to announce that April Skipp joined the team as the new paid Marketing & Development Intern on Tuesday 1 September 2015.
For the next 12 months she will be based in our office in Leeds, working alongside Antony Dunn, Marketing & Communications Manager, and Jackie Malcolm, Development and Fundraising Manager.
Since moving to Leeds four years ago, April has been involved in various arts festivals around Leeds and embraced every opportunity to get involved in what the city has to offer. Since graduating from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2014, she has performed at Illuminating York, Beacons and Latitude Festival and found that although she has a passion for creating work herself, she is interested in the work that goes on behind the scenes.
“This is what is so great about the Marketing and Development Internship. It is an opportunity for me to use my creative skills alongside my work in order to develop marketing and communication skills in a supported environment. I am very excited to learn everything that Yorkshire Dance has to offer and I can’t wait to support the organization in every way possible.”
Fun fact about April is that she absolutely loves films and has a talent for surprising people with a random movie reference – so look out for the odd Harry Potter quote slipped casually into conversation.
Yorkshire Dance’s paid internships are supported by the Creative Employment Programme, a £15m fund to support the creation of traineeships, formal apprenticeship and paid internship opportunities in England for young unemployed people aged 16-24 wishing to pursue a career in the arts and cultural sector.
