Yorkshire Dance welcomes new Artist Development Producer

by aprilskipp on September 1, 2016

We’re delighted to welcome Tanya Steinhauser to the team as Artist Development producer.

Tanya will lead a programme of artistic activity that supports artists and ensures that Yorkshire Dance is at the forefront of talent development, art-form development and innovation regionally and nationally.

Having joined us at the end of June, Tanya’s already co-producing a new Light Night Leeds commission on behalf of four organisations, and leading on our Amplified programme and Artists Curating Dance project, amongst others.

She brings a wealth of experience, insight and artistic networks to her role at Yorkshire Dance, not only in dance production but also sector development, and is a huge asset to the team.

Since moving to North Yorkshire in 2013, Tanya has been working as Creative Producer with a variety of artists in the contemporary dance and performance sector, amongst others: Theo Clinkard, Sylvia Rimat, Two Destination Language and Neil Callaghan & Simone Kenyon.

Prior to working independently, Tanya was Creative Producer for Theatre & Dance at the Institute of Contemporary Interdisciplinary Arts (ICIA) at the University of Bath from 2005-2013.

Tanya programmed, commissioned and produced a busy theatre and dance programme including performances, talks, screenings, events and engagement activities taking place in the 210-seater ICIA Arts theatre as well as venues and sites across the campus and the city of Bath.

A vital part of her role was supporting artists in the development of new work, through mentoring, producing support and a successful residency programme.

As part of her work at ICIA, Tanya was a member of several strategic partnership groups and projects, working with venues, arts organisations, regional and national development agencies in the South West on the development of project, programmes and opportunities for artists while further developing the regional ecology for the theatre and dance.

Tanya was a trustee on the board of Pavilion Dance South West between 2012-2015.

Alongside her producing work, Tanya creates performances and events out of doors under the banner of Field Trip Arts in North Yorkshire.

Tanya is delighted about the opportunity to get to know Yorkshire’s dance artists and supporting them through a variety of exciting projects, programmes and opportunities at Yorkshire Dance and in collaboration with the wider dance & arts sector.
