YDE Young Creatives (c) Brian SlaterAre you a budding choreographer?

Would you like to create new work, get one-to-one mentoring from a professional choreographer, attend a top-class residential programme and see your work performed on stage at the Royal Opera House?

YDE Young Creatives do just that.

Designed for 15-19 year olds, the programme aims to give young choreographers all the skills needed to create high quality dance.

We want to see ideas that are fresh and could communicate with an audience. They could be based on anything that inspires you — your life view, dance itself, what is happening in the world, relationships, interpreting a piece of music, a film, an image or a novel.

Young choreographers can be working in any dance form e.g. ballet, breakin’, contemporary, jazz, Kathak, street, tap or a combination!

Working in partnership with the Royal Opera House, The Royal Ballet School, Yorkshire Dance and professional choreographers, YDE Young Creatives offers a unique experience with prestigious artists and facilities at world-class organisations.

The programme includes a Skills Boosting Weekend to improve the participants’ understanding of choreographic techniques; a fifteen-week mentoring period during which participants will work with their professional mentor to produce and perfect their dance piece; a week-long residential where they will further refine their skills through workshops with each other and professional choreographers; and finally a prestigious performance of their new works at the Royal Opera House’s Linbury Studio Theatre.
