Open Call out for FLESH

Friday 9 December

FLESH has grown some strong legs and is back for round three.
Are you an artist or performer that thrives in performing at alternative venues?
This may be the answer for you… FLESH are on the look-out for exciting new performance work for their next event on Friday 9th December in Hull.

The work can be from any aspect of live performance. This might include (but is not limited to) performance / live-art, dance, cabaret, circus, spoken word etc. We’re also interested in work that defies categorisation blurs art forms and questions relationships between audience and performer, with specific reference to a pub environment – working men’s’ clubs, pubs, and their capacity for live entertainment. The piece has to be low in tech and no longer than 10 minutes max.

Contact: for the full brief and application.
Deadline: 5pm, Monday 31 October 2016

The Producer School

A 10 month programme for independent producers starting in February 2017.

The Producer School is a programme supported by Arts Council England, Gifting Leeds, East Street Arts and Yorkshire Dance Amplified. It is an independently run initiative, devised by a steering group of producers, programmers and artists.

Across 10 months, 8 producers will receive support ranging from residencies and retreats, to workshops and mentorship. Details and specific training sessions will be built with the participants, based on what they need, want and can bring to the school.

We’re looking for people who:
Work with artists and make things happen.
Are at any stage in their practice: this is aimed at early, mid and established producers.
Are working in contemporary practice, across any art form: performance, visual, sound, film.

20 – 25 February 2017
5 day residency at East St Arts, Leeds
The residency is full time, and will consist of guest lunches, incredible speakers and facilitators, special events and time to connect with your fellow participants.

March – October 2017
3 days of mentorship, and monthly contact with the school
At the end of the residency, you will be invited to choose a mentor – perhaps somebody you met that week – to spend 3 days with, spread across 8 months. You can use this time however you wish. It can be in person, or not. And the sessions are private and independent of the school and those who facilitate it.

November 2017
2 day retreat in West Yorkshire
To culminate the school, you’ll be invited to a two day retreat to help us evaluate the programme – how effective its been, what needs to change, and what we should do differently next time.

Full details of the programme can be found here.

DEADLINE:  Monday 24 October
