Rosemary Spencer
Choreographer
Practitioner / facilitator
I have two main passions in life Dance and British Sign Language and where possible I like to integrate the two!
I am a Skinner Release Technique (SRT) teacher (Certified Aug 2011). SRT has been a passion of mine from the moment I took my first class in 2004. I am now very lucky to join the small number of teachers in the UK certified to teach this beautiful technique and be able to bring it to the North of England.
Choreography has always been an important part of my dance practice. The creative nature of SRT feeds into my choreographic process. I am very interested in structured improvisations, and collaborating with other art forms.
I love doing dance workshops in the Community and in Education. Over the past few years I have run a wide variety of workshops from ‘relaxation and gentle movement for the over 50’s’ to ‘creative movement for deaf Sign language users’ to running ‘GCSE and A-level dance workshops’.
Alongside working as a Dance Artist I work as a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter. I often work in the deaf community or use BSL as a stimulus for workshops.
